Abstract:
There is particular interest in using lanthanide-doped nanomaterials for biological applications, including bioimaging, biomarking, and therapeutics. Lanthanide-doped nanomaterials have been applied as versatile platforms for drug/gene delivery owing to the long-retention and specific targeting properties. However, the delivery mechanism and the interaction between these materials and biological systems remain largely unknown. In this presentation, I will present our recent studies on the nanomaterial-based biomedicine. I will show that how the rational designs of hybrid nanosystems enhance NIR-light-triggered photodynamic therapy of malignant tumors, and also reveal the effect of nanoparticle uptake to antioxidant responses of living organisms. A perspective for future research directions in this area will also be provided.
