Levitation and other amazing phenomena of superconductivity: physical basis, recent discoveries, perspectives of application - part 1
prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Rogacki
INTiBS PAN
We will review fundamental phenomena and some selected properties of superconductivity in classical and exotic materials, including room-temperature superconductivity. We will present and discuss recent discoveries in this field, and discuss examples of superconductor applications in lossless energy transport, the construction of levitating vehicles and supermagnets for science (CERN) and thermonuclear fusion (MIT-CFS). Finally, we will briefly discuss the use of superconductors in quantum computers. Superconductor levitation demonstrations at liquid nitrogen temperature are also planned.
