Abstract:
We review the electronic states of single-crystalline EuT2X2 ( T : transition metal and X : Si and Ge ) and their related compounds, together with an effect of pressure on these compounds [1]. Eu ions in most of the Eu compounds are divalent ( Eu2+) and the Eu2+ compounds order magnetically at low temperatures. The divalent electronic state of these Eu compounds can be changed into the trivalent ( Eu3+) electronic state by applying pressure. Pressure is a powerful tool for exploring novel phenomena.
In addition, we present the experimental results of the skyrmion lattice EuPtSi with the cubic chiral structure ( P213, T4, No. 198 ), comparing with those in MnSi with the same structure.
