In this lecture, the measurement techniques used for the optical characteristics of materials will be discussed.
The techniques used in optical spectroscopy to measure absorption, excitation, emission and kinetics allow to determine, among others: transition intensities, optical pumping regions, transition rates, to estimate branching factors and quantum luminescence efficiency.
