Nanocrystals as key operating elements in inorganic and organic structures

The report will cover some basic information about MSU and its Physics department, then I will give an overview of our research group ac-tivity and switch to the topic in title. The energy spectrum for nanocrystals is determined not only by the material, by also by size, shape and surface condition of the crystal. The surface states adjustment will be reviewed as well as the creation of core/shell hetero epitaxial structures. Two exam-ples, where the properties of composite structure, designed for specific practical applications, can be significantly enhanced by adding nanoscaled particles will be given. This will be dedicated to traditional gas sensors, based on porous inorganic matrix, and resistive memory on organic poly-mer material.
