The Institute

From research to design: a unique exhibition by the Academy of Fine Arts in cooperation with INTiBS PAN in the urban space

10 March 2026

From March 3-17, 2026, Wrocław residents and tourists visiting the city can stroll along Świdnicka Street to see an outdoor exhibition prepared in cooperation between the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and the Institute of Low Temperatures and Structural Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The exhibition is an example of a creative encounter between art and science – a dialogue between two worlds that inspire each other and expand their possibilities.

The exhibition traces the path from the creation of a new phosphor powder, through research on its physicochemical properties and the creation of composites, to the development of prototype white LED light sources with a high color rendering index (CRI). These sources were developed by a team led by Dr. hab Dagmara Stefańska, professor at INTiBS, as part of the NCBR LIDER Program project.

Sławomir Kurałowicz, M.A., a designer from the Academy of Fine Arts, designed and manufactured a series of decorative lamps specifically for these light sources. Combined with LED sources developed at the Institute, they create unique relaxation lamps that have won numerous awards at international innovation fairs.

This year, the Institute of Low Temperature and Structural Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences also celebrates its 60th anniversary. The exhibition offers information about the mission and research directions conducted at the Institute, as well as initiatives aimed at the region's residents, including: Research and commercialization opportunities, school visits, participation in the Lower Silesian Science Festival, educational workshops, and opportunities for internships and student placements.

We cordially invite you to visit the exhibition!
