DESCRIPTION:

Director of the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research, PAS announces a competition for the position of assistant professor (in Polish: adiunkt) in the Division of Optical Spectroscopy.

 

Responsibilities for the position include:

  • Synthesis of luminescent materials;
  • Structural and physicochemical characterization of luminescent materials;
  • Investigation of emission properties of synthesized materials;
  • Dissemination of research results through publications and conference presentations;
  • Work within scientific collaborations with other research units;
  • Participation in the Institute’s educational and outreach activities (supervision of trainees, teaching classes for students and PhD candidates).

Requirements

  • PhD degree in chemistry or materials science obtained no more than 10 years prior to the announcement of the competition;
  • Documented knowledge of luminescent material synthesis technologies; experience in developing new luminescent and scintillating materials will be an additional advantage, including familiarity with various synthesis methods;
  • Practical experience working with highly hygroscopic materials and ability to synthesize oxygen-free and anhydrous materials;
  • Ability to perform phase analysis of obtained materials, including interpretation of XRD, EDS, TGA, and DTA results;
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques used to characterize emission properties of luminescent materials;
  • Ability to solve scientific problems and plan experiments;
  • Experience in writing scientific publications in English;
  • Documented participation in national and international scientific activities;
  • Documented experience in research on luminescent materials;
  • Ability to disseminate research results through oral presentations and publications in English;
  • Ability to work in a scientific team;
  • Ability to obtain research funding.

Additional Requirements Due to the Nature of the Position

Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests focus on new luminescent materials with application potential and who have experience in carrying out research projects.

  1. A diploma or a copy of the diploma in English or Polish (if in another language, an English translation must also be attached) confirming completion of the doctoral degree. If the diploma was obtained abroad, the candidate will be required to provide a legalised or apostilled original of the diploma before starting employment at the Institute (otherwise it will not be possible to conclude an employment contract). In the case of a degree obtained abroad which is not recognised in Poland on the basis of international agreements, the candidate will apply to the Institute for its nostrification.   2. An application for employment addressed to the Director of the Institute containing the following clause: " I agree for processing my personal data enclosed in my documents for the needs necessary of the recruitment (in accordance with art. 6 par. 1 lit.   3. Scientific Curriculum Vitae, containing information about the scientific career (education and employment), as well as information on participation in conferences, internships, projects, awards and distinctions, skills and knowledge of foreign languages.
  4. List of publications.
  5. Concise information on previous scientific achievements.

When signing the contract, the candidate will be required to submit an authorization to inclusions in the number of employees engaged in the scientific activity at the Institute, as well as to provide declarations that the publications arising are part of the scientific output of the Institute.
