DESCRIPTION:

Director of the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research, PAS announces a competition for the position of assistant professor (in Polish: adiunkt) in the Division of Nanomaterials Chemistry and Catalysis.

Research task

A person employed as an assistant professor will carry out a research task entitled "Study on the relationship between the microstructure of hierarchical catalytic systems and their catalytic activity."

Responsibilities for the position include

  • Synthesis of catalytic materials, in particular nanomaterials.
  • Structural and physicochemical characteristics of materials exhibiting catalytic properties.
  • Study of the catalytic activity of materials.
  • Dissemination of research results in the form of publications and conference presentations.
  • Scientific cooperation with other units.
  • Participation in the educational and popularizing activities of the Institute (care for interns, conducting didactic classes for students and Ph.D. students).

Requirements

  • PhD degree in chemical sciences obtained up to 5 years before the announcement of the competition.
  • Documented knowledge of the technology of nanomaterial synthesis methods and organized nanostructures.
  • Knowledge of measurement techniques used to characterize nanomaterials (in particular transmission electron microscopy).
  • Knowledge of techniques used in physicochemical and catalytic tests (chromatography, adsorption methods).
  • Knowledge of the English language at least at the B2 level.
  • Ability to solve scientific problems and plan experiments.
  • Experience in writing scientific publications in English.

Qualifications

  • D. degree in chemical sciences
  • Documented participation in scientific life in Poland and abroad.
  • Proven experience in conducting research on catalytic materials (heterogeneous catalysis).

Skills:

  • Ability to disseminate research results through oral presentations and publications in English.
  • Ability to work in a scientific team.
  • Ability to obtain funds for research.

Specific Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates with interests focused on modern microscopic techniques and experience in realizing research projects.

A diploma or a copy of the diploma in English or Polish (in the case of being issued in another language, an English translation must be attached) confirming possesion of a required doctoral degree (in the case of a degree obtained abroad, which is not recognized in Poland based on the international agreements, the candidate will apply to the Institute for its nostrification https://nawa.gov.pl/images/users/642/Nostrification-of-academic-degrees_1.pdf ).
  2. An application for employment addressed to the Director of the Institute containing the following clause: " I agree for processing my personal data enclosed in my documents for the needs necessary of the recruitment (in accordance with art. 6 par. 1 lit.   3. Scientific Curriculum Vitae, containing information about the scientific career (education and employment), as well as information on participation in conferences, internships, projects, awards and distinctions, skills and knowledge of foreign languages.
  4. List of publications.
  5. Concise information on previous scientific achievements.

When signing the contract, the candidate will be required to submit an authorization to inclusions in the number of employees engaged in the scientific activity at the Institute.
