DESCRIPTION:
Director of the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research, PAS announces a competition for the position of assistant professor (in Polish: adiunkt) in the Division of Low Temperature and Superconductivity
Responsibilities for the position include:
- Conducting scientific research in the field of temperature metrology, with a specific focus on low-temperature ranges (cryogenics).
- Providing technical supervision over research equipment and measurement stations, including the National Temperature Standard.
- Disseminating research findings through high-impact scientific publications and conference presentations.
- Engaging in scientific collaboration with national and international research institutions.
- Participating in the Institute’s educational and outreach activities, including mentoring interns and conducting classes for students and PhD candidates.
Requirements
- PhD in Physics or a related field.
- Practical experience in operating cryogenic equipment and proficiency in precision measurement techniques (specifically temperature and resistance measurements).
- Documented research experience in the field of thermometry.
- knowledge of PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025 standards; prior experience in an accredited laboratory is a significant asset.
- Proficiency in measurement uncertainty estimation according to national and international standards.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods.
- Experience in processing and analyzing large datasets using Python, Excel, MATLAB, or equivalent software.
- Proven ability to automate laboratory setups and experiments by writing custom programs or scripts.
- strong analytical skills for solving scientific problems and expertise in Experimental Design (DoE).
- Strong track record of scientific publishing and active participation in the national and international scientific community.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present research results orally and in writing in English.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative research team.

- A diploma or a copy of the diploma in English or Polish (if in another language, an English translation must also be attached) confirming completion of the doctoral degree. If the diploma was obtained abroad, the candidate will be required to provide a legalised or apostilled original of the diploma before starting employment at the Institute (otherwise it will not be possible to conclude an employment contract). In the case of a degree obtained abroad which is not recognised in Poland on the basis of international agreements, the candidate will apply to the Institute for its nostrification.
