The Institute of Low Temperature and Structural Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Wrocław announces a competition to fill the position of assistant professor (in polish: adiunkt) position at the ILTSR PAS in the Division of Biomedical Physicochemistry funded by the project entitled “Inteligentne farby luminescencyjne wrażliwe na zmiany temperatury i ciśnienia do zaawansowanych zastosowań”, carried out on behalf of the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP First Team grant. No. FENG.02.02-IP.05-0018/23) with funds from the 2nd Priority of the Program European Funds for Modern Economy 2021-2027 (FENG) in the Department of Biomedical Physicochemistry.

The contract will be concluded on a full-time basis for the period of 12 months. The remuneration under the contract will amount to approx. PLN 9 100 net (approx. PLN 12 000. gross. Detailed employment conditions will be specified in the employment contract concluded between the employed person and the Director of INTiBS PAN.

Project description

The aim of the project is the development of luminescent paints based on inorganic phosphors doped with transition metal and lanthanide ions sensitive to changes in temperature and pressure.

Tasks description

Synthesis of inorganic materials doped with lanthanide and transition metal ions

Characterization of luminescent properties of the obtained phosphors as a function of temperature and pressure

Analysis of the obtained results, preparation of reports on the conducted research, preparation of scientific publications

Requirements

The candidate must meet the requirements specified in the competition documentation for FNP First Team FENG projects edition 1/2023 posted on www.fnp.org and should:

  • have a doctoral degree in chemical science, physical science or related
  • doctor degree obtained after January 1st 2018
  • have expertise in inorganic chemistry and a comprehensive understanding of the optical properties of inorganic materials doped with lanthanide or transition metal ions
  • have experience in the synthesis of luminescent materials
  • possess qualities such as ability to work in a team, communication skills, motivation for research
  • posses experience in the optical characterization of phosphors
  • Very good command of English
  • be ready to start work from February 1st 2025 (formal steps related to residence and work permit in Poland should be taken into account);

A candidate entering the competition should submit:

  1. A diploma or a copy of the diploma in English or Polish (if in another language, an English translation must also be attached) confirming completion of the doctoral degree. If the diploma was obtained abroad, the candidate will be required to provide a legalised or apostilled original of the diploma before starting employment at the Institute (otherwise it will not be possible to conclude an employment contract). In the case of a degree obtained abroad which is not recognised in Poland on the basis of international agreements, the candidate will apply to the Institute for its nostrification.   2. When signing the contract, the candidate will be required to submit an authorization to inclusions in the number of employees engaged in the scientific activity at the Institute.
