Investigation of the magnetocaloric effect by direct method in magnets with magnetic phase transitions of the first and second order

In most cases, magnetocaloric effect studies carried out from magnetization curves and heat capacity (indirect method). However, this approach can not be applied in the field of the magnetic phase transitions of first-order. The magnets with a first-order transition can be measure by direct method. We have developed an experimental device for measurement by direct method of MCE in magnetic fields up to 14 T. This experimental device allows you to distinguish the contribution associated with the magnetic structural transition. In addition, for observation of martensite domains in a magnetic field of 14 T was conducted a unique experiment.
