The report presents the results of magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effect (MCE) investigations of MnAs compound in the vicinity of magnetostructural transition, close to room temperature. The transformations of magnetocaloric effect in MnAs due to partial substitution of As by Sb, as well as polymeric composite based on MnAs are reported. MnAs demonstrates a strong temperature dependence of magnetic properties, magnetic hysteresis and MCE. Furthermore, it is found that fixing of the composite, consisting of microcrystalline powder of MnAs and polymeric matrix, under pressure of 10 kbar, causes emergence of a quasi-inverse MCE behavior during heating and cooling. The maximum of MCE of the composite is 1.3 K in magnetic field of 12 kOe (at T = 309 K). Additionally, some new magnetization and MCE results of rapidly quenched Dy and Tb are presented and discussed.
