Abstract:
In this talk I will introduce the notion of quantum anomalies, an important example corresponds to the celebrated chiral anomaly, responsible for the decay of pions into photons. Surprisingly this quantum effect can be manifested in transport at the macroscopic level. Within the systems where anomalous transport may lead to observable signals we find the quark gluon plasma and the recently discovered topological semimetals. In particular, I will focus on the so-called Dirac materials and some exotic cousins of them.
