Marcin SikoraAkademickie Centrum Materiałów i Nanotechnologii (ACMIN) Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej w KrakowieAn overview of spin and orbital sensitive X-ray spectroscopic techniques available at synchrotron light sources will be presented. The experimental and theoretical foundations of XAS, XES, RIXS, XMCD, PEEM and STXM techniques will be given and illustrated by the results selected from own research and recently published data. Among others, spin transitions in molecular magnets and metal oxides, magnetic anisotropy of adatoms and thin films, magnetic structure of core/shell nanoparticles as well as experiments using pulsed fields, extreme pressure and temperature will be discussed.
