Research MCE by a direct method in the area of low temperatures and high magnetic fields (up to 14 T). Direct and inverse MCE of Heusler alloys in magnetostructural transition area

At present there are a small number of works devoted to the study of MCE at low temperatures and high magnetic fields by the direct method. First of all, it is connected to difficulties of carrying out such experiments. Earlier similar researches were conducted in studies [1,2] for a row of intermetallic compounds. However value of a magnetic field  didn't exceed 6 T in these experiments. In the report the unique experimental device which allows to take measurements of MCE by a direct method from temperature of liquid helium (4,2 K) and in magnetic fields to 14 T is provided.  Intermetallic compounds NdNi4Si and HoNi2 samples having low Curie temperature were used for carrying out tests. The results obtained by the direct method are in good agreement with our and literature data obtained by indirect methods. Also in the report results of researches direct and inverse MCE by a direct method of Heusler alloys  (Ni-Mn-In, Ni-Mn-Sn, Ni-Mn-Ga) will be provided.
